This is the only business strike obverse die.

Obverse 1 Die States
  1. Perfect Die.
No later dies states have been observed.
1870-CC Reverse E

1870-CC Reverse E is one of the two medium-wide CC reverses first used in 1870. It was retired after its 1870 use, used again in 1873 to strike the limited number of coins minted at Carson City that year. The next photo shows the mintmark position.

1870-CC Reverse E Die States

Reverse 1870-CC E die states include:
  1. Perfect Die.
  2. The die has clashed very lightly. The most notable clash mark is a raised line from the upper leaf tip to the left wing.
The clashing noted above occurred in 1870, so all 1873-CC examples have a state b reverse.
