Comments:
   This is the only use of Obverse 1 and the only use of Reverse A.


Obverse 1

Obverse 1 exhibits a repunched 18. The repunching on the 8 is very minor, but the 1 is notable. The arrow in the photo points to the repunching on the 1.



Obverse 1 Die States
  1. Perfect die.
  2. Very light die cracks across the base of the date and through stars 9-10 into the field above stars 11-12.
No later die states have been observed.


Reverse A

Reverse A is easy to identify because of strong die doubling, most visible on WE, but notable to a lesser degree on all the elements of the motto. The doubling is shown in the following photo.

Reverse A Die States
  1. Perfect die.
  2. Multiple light die cracks along the bottom of and below ONE DOL.
  3. The light die cracks now completely surround the reverse.
No later die states have been observed.

This same die pair was used to strike copper trial pieces, J-541.
